Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: 12/18 Surf / Sea State: Felixstowe chop Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 25.79 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 40 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
After yesterdays epic 55 mile windsurf and achy arms I was pleased to wake
to wall to wall sunshine and light wsw winds:) Again our bloom'n old cat
woke as early so after a bit of a read we got up made a flask and packed
our muesli breakfast and headed out on our bikes. We did our favourite Two
Rivers ride, firstly going down to the prom and along to the Deben for
breakfast watching the boats enter the river, coal was in short supply so
we moved off to the ferry to watch the dinghy action before returning to
the river path to Kings Fleet. It was then onto Falkenham Church for a
coffee and to take some pics of the beautiful flowers in a nearby field. It
was then to Kirton, then Trimley and along the busy A14 to Levington Marina
where the tide was high. Past Loompit lake to our tree lined lanes back to
Felixstowe. At the docks Mag returned home while I went to Landguard which
was busy as there was an open day at the Fort. At the beach I spotted three
windsurfers heading my way, they came ashore and I discovered it was three
Hurrells out on a longboard cruise down the coast from The Fludgers, Neil
had rang earlier to say they were going out but we left our phone at home.
The sun was still out and the breeze filling in so I hurried home, hitched
the trailer after a quick snack and headed to The Fludgers. As it was 1 o
clock I had no chance of parking so continued to The Dip as the wsw wind
had swung more cross shore. My plan was to rig 9.4 and sail up to join up
with the Hurrells but I was reading 20mph winds on the gauge so rigged 7.8
on the 133 as used yesterday. The first runs were slow going but it got
better as the wind increased. With the tide not been turned long it was
wind with tide so you had to bet both ways just to stay in the same place!
With more wind I began to sail broader, I would beat out to the red and
white bouy through the wild river mouth then head fast down wind before
heading up before gybing.I tied a couple of mile runs ending up two and a
half miles offshore but it was great fun sailing back in the confused river
mouth waves:) The earlier forcast rain stayed away and I had a great time
all by myself for an hour before I was joined by Mark and Nick Swain with
about 6/8 kiters with the Hurrells sailing up from the Fludgers:) I was out
for two and a half hours covering another 40 miles and am absolutely
shattered and can hardly move my arms - please no wind tomorrow!!! What a
top weekend :)
